Oh Happy Cake is heading into its third year of operations on various Farmer's markets in the Mid Vancouver Island region. We are full of ideas and experiments that will hopefully treat you to some phenomenal cakes and treats from all over Europe ranging from traditional family recipes to new and innovative variations.
My name is Brigitte Lange, I love my family, Germany, Canada, cakes, my kitchen, travelling and meeting people.
When travelling Europe and the world I always come home with new recipes and ideas and do a lot of experimenting in the kitchen. For many years I was intrigued to start some sort of business involving delicious food. The time was never right though, the kids too small, life too busy. But with our adventure of moving to Canada things changed.
Fortunately for me I can kill two birds with one stone, I can bring a piece of home to Canada and I can spoil you with the results of years of baking experience, our family’s and friends’ traditional recipes and my own creations.
What has started out as my dream, has evolved into a family business, with our family brainstorming for a name, my husband building the displays and his expertise in marketing, our kids helping me with this website and all the computer “stuff” and all the family and friends doing a lot of cake testing.
I keep my ingredients basic and fuss free. I only use real butter, fresh eggs, real spices and vanilla powder from vanilla beans, and sometimes even some alcohol. If you want more specific ingredients, feel free to ask.
As a mother of three I know that everyone is different and likes different things. Also I cannot bring all the cakes that I make to every market. So if you are after a specific one, do let me know and I will make it for you. I can make smaller-sized cake, just let me know. If you want a whole one, just let me know. If you want a gluten free cake, just let me know. I have a delicious gluten free cake that I not always bring. Almost everything is possible!
